Hello voters!

The long awaited Better Mayors update has finally arrived on Alpha! Continue reading if you want a full breakdown on all the changes and additions, or you can just read the TLDR below

TLDR:

• The runner up Candidate of an election becomes a "Minister" (one of their perks activates as if they get 2nd place)
• (Almost) Every mayor is getting a new 4th perk
• Diaz has completely changed her perks
• A new Carnival event for Foxy

► Minister System[]

The governing body of SkyBlock (no relation to elected Mayors) have decreed that elections now also determine a new position: Ministers! Ministers are the runner up Candidates in an election. Every Mayor will have a perk chosen as a Minister Perk at the beginning of every election. If they become the Minister, this perk becomes active!If Aatrox becomes the Minister, all Slayer Quests are half price!Additional Notes:

• Special Mayors cannot have Ministers
• Ministers will not show up in the election after they are elected
• Unlike Mayors, Ministers will keep their perks when they do show up again and can still roll for additional perk

► Fourth Perks[]

(Almost) every Mayor is getting a new never-before-seen Fourth Perk! These new perks should help some of the less popular Mayors get elected more often.

We currently have no plans to introduce new never-before seen Fourth Perks to Special Mayors.

➥ Where are Aatrox and Paul's new never-before seen Fourth Perks?[]

You didn't hear this from me but apparently Aatrox and Paul failed to hand in their new campaign plans in enough time. Aatrox claimed he couldn't read Clerk Seraphine's memo (even though she sent out multiple, well in advance), and Paul had no Abiphone Cell Service while running M4 (which sounds like the least of his problems).

Once again, you didn't hear this from me, but I heard they had some eventful plans that will take longer to develop.

➥ Hiding Election Votes for Ongoing Elections[]

We've gathered that a lot of players would prefer if every Candidate's votes were not displayed during elections, so we are going to try something out. Once this update leaves the Alpha Network, we plan on alternating between elections where voting is private and elections where voting is public.

We have a hunch that you guys will end up preferring for the votes to be public so that you can strategize and "vote" for a Minister, but we'll see how everything plays out and will be monitoring for feedback.

► Mayor Perks[]

Exclusively for this Alpha playtest, we will be frequently rotating between different Mayors so that we can test as many different things as possible. The playtest will start with Foxy as Mayor, who has the most significant changes.

► Marina[]

We think the Fishing Festival is exciting enough as is, so Marina will just be getting a new perk.

New Perk: Double Trouble[]

For every 1% of Sea Creature Chance, gain 0.1% chance to double hook sea creatures (+0.1 Double Hook Chance).

• Yes, that means Double Hook Chance is officially becoming a stat.
• The Giant Fishing Rod and Double Hook Attribute have been updated to reflect this.

► Diana[]

The Mythological Ritual has plenty of content, so Diana is also only getting one new perk.

New Perk: Sharing is Caring[]

You can have up to 3 EXP shared pets active at once. Your EXP Share rate is increased by 10%.

➥ EXP Sharing Rework[]

Diana's perk may have caught you off guard, that's because we have reworked how EXP Share works in SkyBlock!Now, rather than using the Exp Share item, you can simply use a menu to chose what Pet you want to EXP Share with. Your 'EXP Share rate' also goes up by 0.2% per Taming Level, up to a maximum of 12% at Taming LX.By default, you will only have one "active" EXP Share Slot. When Diana is in office with her 'Sharing is Caring' perk, two more EXP Share Slots will also become enabled. Those slots will no longer provide EXP when Diana leaves office, but you can still add/remove pets from those slots - they're not stuck in there

The three slots within the EXP Share menu have colorful indicators to tell you their status.Active Slots are Green: Slots that currently have a Pet in them that is getting EXP Share are considered active.Empty Slots are Yellow: Slots that are currently enabled but have no Pets in them are considered empty.Inactive Slots are Red: Slots that are currently disabled (like the second/third slots without Diana) are considered inactive. Max level Pets within otherwise active slots turn inactive, to show that they are no longer getting EXP Share.

Instead of enabling the system as a whole, the EXP Share item now simply boosts the effectiveness of Pets receiving EXP Share by 15%. This item stacked with the 12% Exp Share rate from Taming LX means that you can reach a total of 27%, which is higher than the original items 25% (outside of Diana's 10% boost).

➥ Favoriting Pets[]

We've taken the time to add some minor QoL to the Pets menu. With this feature, simply Shift + Left-Click to favorite a Pet. Favorited Pets show up at the front of your Pets menu so that you can access them easily.A favorited Level 100 Common Tiger Pet with 8,000,000 Overflow XPDesigner’s Note: The current behavior with sorting on your favorite pets is that the sort still applies, but all favorited pets will appear before non favorited pets. This functionality can totally be adjusted if it’s not desirable for favorites to be affected by sorting. Please give feedback!We hope these changes are going to make EXP Sharing a lot more accessible to players, but you'll still need the original EXP Share item to get the best EXP Share rates!

► Finnegan[]

Finnegan is a little bit underwhelming, so we went a little deeper with his new perk!

New Perk: Blooming Business[]

Garden Visitors will give out Fine Flour and appear more often. Additional visitors may visit your Garden.Higher rarity Visitors are more likely to show up & will provide 10% more Copper.

While Blooming Business is active, visitors will reward you with Fine Flour for completing their requests in addition to their regular rewards.The saga continues...The amount of Fine Flour a visitor gives out is dependent on their rarity:UNCOMMON - 1 Fine FlourRARE - 3 Fine FlourLEGENDARY - 5 Fine FlourMYTHIC - 10 Fine Flour

➥ Four New Visitors[]

Also while Blooming Business is active, there is a chance that some new visitors may appear on your Garden. These include the Baker, the Vinyl Collector, the Pest Wrangler, and the Ravenous Rhino. We won't spoil everything here, but the Ravenous Rhino is a new MYTHIC visitor that is an additional source for Dedication IV books.

We have added some new items to Talbot's Shop while Pelt-pocalypse is active.

We hope these additions give players a little more reason to gather Pelts.

► Cole[]

The Mining Fiesta's signature Refined Minerals have ran their course... so we're introducing Glossy Gemstones, a new material exclusive to it, along with a handful of other items. We're also giving Cole a fourth perk like the other Mayors.

New Perk: Molten Forge[]

Decreases the time it takes to forge by 25%.

Updated Perk: Mining Fiesta[]

Schedules five Mining Fiesta events that last for 7 days each. Earn 2x drops and extra unique loot, including Refined Minerals and Glossy Gemstones. Grants +75 ☯ Mining Wisdom during the event. (Only active on public islands.)Designer’s Note: This old description hasn't been updated to this new one on Alpha.

Refined Minerals aren't used for a whole lot, so we are introducing a whole array of new items and forge recipes that utilize them. Glossy Gemstones are also used in many of these!

Foxy was one of our most underwhelming Mayors, so we have significantly reworked her! She will be introducing a whole new event to SkyBlock (our 2nd this year!) along with new Party Chests and Party Gifts.

Updated Perk: Sweet Benevolence[]

Increases your chances of dropping Candy and Gifts by +30% during the Spooky Festival and Season of Jerry respectively.

New Perk: A Time for Giving[]

Party Chests and Party Gifts can be obtained while this event is active.

New Event Perk: Chivalrous Carnival[]

Schedules a Carnival in the hub, active throughout the entire year.Take on fun activities to earn Tokens and exchange them for perks and special items!

➥ Sweet Benevolence[]

This perk is the result of merging Foxy's old Sweet Tooth and Benevolence perks.

➥ Party Chests and Party Gifts[]

Foxy's A Time for Giving perk introduces two new items: Party Chests and Party Gifts. These items are only obtainable while the perk is active, and can drop some new items!Party ChestsParty Chests are earned throughout the Spooky Festival, including the hour before and after the event. Party Chests outright replace Trick or Treat Chests, giving some bonus loot:Party Chest Drop Table

Party GiftsParty Gifts are earned by killing Winter Sea Creatures while on Jerry Island. Party Gifts upgrade the rewards found in Red Gifts, making them more worthwhile to open up.

• 2% from COMMON Winter Sea Creatures
• 5% from UNCOMMON Winter Sea Creatures
• 10% from RARE Winter Sea Creatures
• 20% from EPIC Winter Sea Creatures

Party Gift Drop Table

Buffed LootOn top of the new rewards, Party Chests and Party Gifts also buff the existing loot found in Trick or Treat Chests and Red Gifts respectively. What might've been 4 Ectoplasm in a Trick or Treat Chest might now be 6 Ectoplasm, for example.

⭐ Chivalrous Carnival[]

Foxy’s Chivalrous Carnival introduces a bunch of carnival games to the world of Hypixel SkyBlock!Designer's Note: We highly recommend enabling SkyBlock music while in the Carnival, @ShinkoNet made some incredible songs for this update!

➥ Carnival Tickets[]

The Chivalrous Carnival has 3 games within it, each requiring 5 Carnival Tickets per play.Every day the Carnival Leader will give out 25 Carnival Tickets for free, just for talking with him. He is located at the entrance to the Chivalrous Carnival while the event is active.Carnival Tickets can also be earned by participating in many of SkyBlock's calendar events. Currently they can be earned through Party Chests, Party Gifts, Jacob's Farming Contests, Spooky Festivals, and Fishing Festivals. Foxy's Chivalrous Carnival perk does not need to be active for players to earn Carnival Tickets from these places.Additional Notes:

• By release, we will add a way to store Carnival Tickets in your sacks (so you won't need to take them out to use them)
• All Carnival Tickets are co-op Soulbound

➥ Carnival Games[]

There are three Carnival Games available at the Chivalrous Carnival. The Carnival Games will be available for as long as the perk is active.

Fruit Digging[]

Dig up 10 fruits from a sandpit to earn a high score. Each fruit gives you a different amount of points, and most of them have a unique effect to earn you even more (or less!) points.

Catch a Fish[]

The objective of Catch a Fish is to...catch fish. Catch as many as possible before time runs out by hooking onto them and holding right click to reel them in! There are different types of fish that give differing amounts of points, some are also harder to catch!

Zombie Shootout[]

Using your trusty Carnival Dart Tube, kill as many Zombies as you can in the shooting gallery before time runs out. Higher tier Zombies award more points, but of course run faster. Zombies have a chance of spawning as a Baby Zombie, who award double the points but run even faster. Redstone Lamps will occasionally light up in the gallery as well, make sure to shoot them for extra points!

Designer's Note: There is no SkyBlock XP tied to each individual minigame. You can pick your favorite carnival minigame to grind out your Carnival Tokens if you wish!

➥ Scoring System and Carnival Tokens[]

Each of the three Carnival Games are scored in points. Earning 100 points gets you 1 Carnival Token. Carnival Tokens can be spent at the Mask Shop or the Event Shop, both found within the Carnival.Designer's Note: This conversion rate is subject to change throughout Alpha testing.

The Carnival Shop contains both the Mask Shop and the Event Shop, which use exclusively Carnival Tokens as currency!

Mask Shop[]

The Mask Shop sells six additional Carnival Masks on top of the ones you can already find throughout SkyBlock. Each mask has a niche ability, collect them all! Masks can also be kept in your Carnival Mask Bag for storage and ease of access, granting you Intelligence if you do so!

Event Shop[]

The Event Shop sells perks for various SkyBlock calendar events. Purchase them for permanent buffs!Designer Note: The perk costs are to be finalized during testing.

Spooky Festival[]

➥ Stats and Rewards[]

We are tracking stats for all of your Carnival Game attempts! Talk to our rewards gal' Chantelle to check out your cumulative and yearly stats for all of the Carnival Games.Each time a Carnival is held, Chantelle offers refreshed objectives for players to complete. These give players significant rewards for your first few plays of each of the Carnival Games, resetting with each new Carnival.

➥ Commemorative Items[]

If you played a Carnival Game at least once each time it's in town, you will earn that game's commemorative item. These will make it easy to keep track of all of your high scores and positions from year to year. Once the Carnival ends, these are automatically sent to your Event Rewards Menu.

► Diaz[]

Diaz was our most disappointing Mayor, so we have almost entirely reworked her. She now offers a new event, improvements to Shen's Auction and Special, and a unique perk that affects future elections!

New Perk: Volume Trading[]

Double the item quantity from Shen's Auction, Shen's Special, and Rift Shen's on the year Diaz is elected. Two additional Shen’s Special auctions will be available for the duration of Diaz being elected as Mayor.

New Event Perk: Stock Exchange[]

Diaz is bringing more Stock of Stonks into circulation. Stock of Stonks can be obtained from the Stonks Auction and winning bids for items in the Dark Auction and Shen’s Auctions. Talk to Diaz while she’s elected with this perk to bid for Stock of Stonks and trade in your Stock of Stonks in for some cool new items!

New Perk: Long Term Investment[]

The elected minister will appear in the next election with all of their available perks.

➥ Moar Shen’s![]

With this update, Shen's Auctions will be offered twice a year rather than just once.Mayor Diaz's Volume Trading perk will do three things:

• Double the number of Shen's Auctions yet again for that year (for a total of 4)
• Double the number of items at all Shen's Auctions for that year
• A new permanent item will be added to Shen's Special (if there are items available)Designer's Note: Only Shen's Auctions that end during Diaz's term will have doubled items.

➥ Stock of Stonks Usage[]

Back in early 2020 we introduced the Stock of Stonks, a test item that coincided with the release of the Bazaar. This item has never had any use, only speculative value, at least until today.Mayor Diaz's Stock Exchange perk will introduce significantly more Stock of Stonks into the economy, but it will also allow you to trade them in for some new items:

• Golden Fragment
  • Costs x3 Stock of Stonks
  • Use x8 Golden Fragments to upgrade one of the following:
    • Daedalus Axe
    • Midas' Sword
    • Midas Staff
• Avaricious Chalice
  • Costs x50 Stock of Stonks
  • Use x1 Avaricious Chalice along with other items to upgrade the Emerald Ring to the Emerald Artifact
  • Use x4 Avaricious Chalice along with other items to upgrade the Crown of Greed into the Crown of Avarice
    • Item Idea Credit: ChocolateTimbits
• Freshly-Minted Coins
  • Costs x1 Stock of Stonks (capped at 5,000 global purchases every 4 hours)
  • Used in various amounts to obtain the following:
    • Scavenger Ring/Artifact
    • Ring/Artifact/Relic of Coins
• Scavenger VI
  • Costs x20 Stock of Stonks

➥ Obtaining Stock of Stonks[]

As the Stock of Stonks is receiving new uses, we only thought it would be fair to finally give it some more permanent methods of obtaining.

Stonks Auction[]

Located in the Stonks Exchange, Richard is how you will access the brand new Stonks Auction. These Auctions are global, with one happening each SkyBlock month (every ~10 hours). The Top 100 bidders each receive 25 Stock of Stonks, followed by 15 Stock of Stonks for Top 500, 10 for Top 1000, and so on.

Auction Bidding[]

Winning an item at any of Shen's Auctions will additionally reward 10 Stock of Stonks.Designer's Note: This amount is subject to change. Please give us feedback on the new obtaining methods for this item!

Relic of Coins[]

The Relic of Coins has a 1/40,444 chance of dropping a Stock of Stonks every 60 seconds.

➥ Aurelia[]

Aurelia is an NPC that allows you to increase the amount of coins you put in your Midas Sword and Midas Staff. This allows players to upgrade their existing Midas items with Golden Fragments then sink coins accordingly to make the item’s ability stronger. You can also find her at the Trade Center!

► Campaign Poster[]

During this Alpha test, players will be able to complete certain tasks across the server to help test the update. Upon completion of all tasks, players will earn the Campaign Poster on the main network. You can access the list of tasks and your completion towards them via the Centauri NPC in The Hub.
