I’ve been lucky enough to travel across most of our country, and I have to admit when visiting the South, I always love some of their special treats.
There are just some items we don’t find as often up here in the Midwest and one of my sweets I always have to indulge in is pralines.
The beauty of pecan pralines lies in their simplicity.
Made with just a handful of ingredients, pralines offer the perfect combination of flavors and textures.
The rich sweetness of the caramelized sugar perfectly complements the subtle nuttiness of the pecans, while the crispy texture provides a satisfying crunch.
This easy to make recipe is not only a delicious dessert to enjoy for the holidays, but can also make an appreciated gift when packaged in a pretty box or container.

Easy Pecan Pralines Recipe
This easy recipe can be made right at home. You will want to allow cooking time and setting up time. See the details below.
Ingredients:
- 1 c sugar
- 1 c brown sugar
- ½ c evaporated milk
- 4 T. unsalted butter, cubed
- 2 t vanilla
- 1 ½ c chopped pecans
It is important to note that this easy recipe does require acandy thermometer.
To properly place the thermometer – clip it to the side of the pan so that it is not touching the bottom or side of the pan and the tip is in the mixture.
Directions:
To get started on this pecan pralines recipe, you will want to prepare a baking sheet.
To do this you will want to line the cooking sheet with parchment paper. Set this sheet aside to be ready for your pralines.
In a large stock pot, combine the sugar, brown sugar and evaporated milk. Stir your ingredients to make sure that they are combined.
Heat the mixture over medium heat.
Set the candy thermometer on the side of the pan. Prepare the rest of the ingredients while the mixture heats.
Do not stir the mixture. Allow it to heat to 240 degrees.
Remove the pan from the heat and add in the butter. Allow it to cool for about a minute without stirring in the butter.
Pour in the vanilla and pecan pieces.
Stir to combine without scraping the bottom of the pan.
Use a spoon to scoop out the pecan pralines recipe mixture and create mounds of pecans onto the parchment paper lined cookie sheet.
Allow the pralines to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Once set, carefully remove the pralines from the parchment paper and store in an airtight container until you are ready to enjoy.
